The Teacher by Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This physiological thriller follows the stories of Eve and Addie. Eve is a high school teacher who is married to Nate who is also a teacher. From the outside they seem like a perfect couple but nobody knows she is unhappy. Eve is concerned when she finds out that her husband has Addie as a student this year. Addie was involved in a scandal that ended up having another teacher fired.

The story is narrated from the points of view of Eve and Addie. This book is strongly character driven. Throughout most of the story you see the focus the author gives on the characters and their ambiguous morals. The mood of the story is dark and gloomy.

My overall opinion

I didn’t care for any of the characters and disliked them all. None of the characters show growth or any kind of development.  The writing was easy to follow and intriguing.  Even though plot wise nothing was happening it was a page turner.

This is the fourth book I’ve read from this author, but the storyline did not deliver as expected. This book wasn’t my favorite, but I will still read more of her books. One thing this book lacked was the feeling of anticipation, because it was very predictable.

Who would enjoy this book?

For fans of Freida McFadden this will be a quick read and can be added to the list. If you are in the hunt for a story with dark secrets and unsettling events this could be your next read. This book contains talks and mentions of grooming, statutory rape, domestic abuse blood and injuries.
