This Could be Us by Kennedy Ryan

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This Could be Us is the second book in the Skyland series. This contemporary romance follows the story of Soledad and Judah.  After her husband’s betrayal Soledad is broken and busy picking up the pieces.  She focuses on staying afloat and taking care of her three daughters, but then Judah enters the picture. After all the pain, can she even think about a future with him?

The story is told from Soledad and Judah’s point of view.  She is warm and vibrant, resilient and talented in so many things. Judah is kind and smart and doesn’t mind being vulnerable with Soledad. The constant struggle for Sol is that she wants to be alone, be the love of her life but there are also feelings for Judah. Kennedy Ryan sets an emotional healing mood for this book.

My overall opinion

The writing style of this author and her words make me feel like my soul is being hugged.  Kennedy did a great job with the puertorican representation. This book was so close to being a five star, but the last  chapters were a little underwhelming.  Personally, I favor this book over the first one.  I liked the inclusion  and representation of autism. The characters were portrayed in a realistic and informative way.

Who would enjoy this book?

First, if you already started the Skyland series you must read this one. If you like romantic books that are more than romance books with real and complex topics this is your next book. If you need a refreshing cast of characters this is it. This book contains themes and topics of healing, parenting, resilience and sisterhood.  Also some trigger warnings in this book are; racism, infidelity and death of a parent.
