⭐️⭐️
This is the first book in the Lovelight series. In this novel Stella owns a farm. The holidays are just around the corner and the farm seems to have a string of bad luck; shipments missing, dead trees, etc. Stella decides to enter her farm in a contest in order to avoid bankruptcy. Stella decides that fake-dating her best friend will make the farm seem more romantic and could help her win the grand-prize.
This romantic novel is told from Stella’s point of view. The protagonist is independent, hardworking and even though she is loving, she can be reserved when it comes to emotions. Luka is her best friend and he is supportive of Stella throughout the whole friendship.
My overall opinion
I really wanted to enjoy Love Light Farms, especially with its holiday setting and small-town charm, but unfortunately, I found it to be overrated and ultimately disappointing. The plot about saving the farm, which seemed like the central conflict, was barely addressed and felt forgotten as the book progressed. The book dragged on for far too long, and I honestly should have DNFed it.
I went in excited for the cozy, holiday atmosphere, and that was really the only part I enjoyed. The small-town vibes were great, but everything else fell flat. The romance between Stella and Luka had no real chemistry; there was no tension or emotional connection. Stella especially became insufferable toward the end, and I found her behavior pretty annoying, particularly in the final chapters.
Speaking of chapters, they were overly long and full of inner monologues with little actual plot progression. The lack of real conflict made the story feel stagnant. There were so many random characters introduced in the beginning and by the end, I didn’t even remember who half of them were. The book lost its focus, and the bonus chapter didn’t interest me at all. Honestly, I probably won’t continue with the rest of the series.
Who would enjoy this book?
Despite my opinion, I am in the minority here, so you might enjoy this book. If you like small towns, holiday settings, and friends-to-lovers stories, give this book a try. If you favor character-driven books, this could be your next read. This book explores themes of love, friendship, vulnerability, trust, and community.
P. S I loved the cover of this book. I think that’s what made me buy it, but you know what they say…
