⭐️⭐️⭐️
This thriller takes place on a remote island off the Irish coast. Jules and Will have planned the perfect, lavish wedding—until someone ends up dead. The guest list is a mix of family and friends, and while many may have a motive to kill, only one is the actual killer.
The story is told from multiple points, each one is a piece of the puzzle that slowly uncovers the events leading up to the murder. Jules, the bride, is a successful woman who seems to have the perfect life, but beneath it all, her insecurities lurk. Will, the groom, is a handsome, charismatic man who appears to have a dark past. Lucy Foley sets an ominous atmosphere throughout the book.
My overall opinion
This was a very fast-paced book, and the multiple points of view had me hooked. The buildup when uncovering the characters was very intense, and I was turning the pages so quickly. However, when the motives were finally released, they felt anticlimactic. The ending, too, was abrupt and lacked the dramatic payoff it deserved.
This was my first book by Lucy Foley, but I did enjoy how her writing wove all the characters and chapters together. Despite feeling a little disappointed by the ending, I will consider reading more of her books in the future.
