⭐️⭐️⭐️
In this thriller, Erika Cass has the perfect family and a beloved 16-year-old son who’s as charming as he is intelligent. But when a high school girl goes missing, the police turn their suspicion toward Erika’s son. Although Erika has always sensed darker sides to his nature, she desperately wants to believe in his innocence. However, the mounting evidence becomes impossible to ignore. As she struggles with the truth, the real question becomes: How far will she go to protect her son? Told in short, fast-paced chapters from both Erika and Olivia’s perspectives, the author crafts a mysterious and suspenseful narrative.
My overall opinion
I enjoyed this book, it was on the shorter side and a quick read, though a bit predictable. I really like the author’s writing style and the short chapters, and the premise was interesting. That said, the characters drove me crazy. Erika’s obsession with her son was frustrating, and the reasoning behind why he was her favorite and why she didn’t like the daughter felt a bit over the top. Olivia also annoyed me; despite all the warnings, she still was crushing over Liam just because he was cute, though, to be fair, she is a hormonal teenager. The egg jokes and puns left me unsure how to feel,I’m still on the fence about them.
